Local Flavor, National Attention

If you have visited Flip Flops Grill +Chill since it opened July 2, 2010 you may not be surprised that they were contacted by the producers of one of The Food Networks most popular shows, “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Yet, if you had asked owner Kris Thurbon, he would never have guessed that they would fit the profile, however in his experience he discovered that what they are looking for are unique, family run restaurants that offer great products with fresh ingredients. Younger brother Gary Thurbon joined Kris for the 2 day, 20 hour shoot along with Head Chef Nigel Jenkins. Asked if Thurbon had
any control over the menu selection process and the answer was no, but the choices that were made were not surprising. In the 7 minute piece Guy Fieri will taste the most popular dish on the menu the BBQ Fish Tacos and the Maple Bacon Cheesecake Guy Fieri was there on the second day of shooting to wrap up all the final shots. Thurbon is not sure when the show will be scheduled to air but is hoping for the Fall 2011season. Congratulations to Flip Flops Bar and Grill, another fine VBRA member restaurant.
